A massive transfer could be on the horizon between United and Barcelona

Manchester United are looking to strengthen their numbers in defense and that has led to them scouring around Europe looking for the right option at CB. With the futures of the likes of Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Harry Maguire in question, United want to get top quality in the position for the future.

Having been linked with several CB’s this past season including Jean-Clair Todibo of OCG Nice, it appears United have set their eyes on an even bigger name. Ronald Araujo of FC Barcelona. The two prestigious clubs had a transfer saga just 18 months ago over the future of Frenkie De Jong and it appears that another one is coming.

Barcelona have had several severe financial issues over the past few years after the transfer mishaps of former president Josep Maria Bartomeu. Those mistakes have caused the club to teeter around the edge when it comes to financial fair play, and their biggest stars are always amongst the names in the rumor mill. Ronald Araujo is no different as he has been linked with multiple clubs in the past few years and is once again linked with Manchester United.

The Uruguayan defender was linked with the Red Devils prior to signing his new contract in April 2022, and the Red Devils interest has never stopped despite the extension. The long admiring interest has always been there and according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg he is on the United list for the summer transfer window. However, United will face competition for the Uruguayan’s services as Bayern Munich are also interested in the player and he is a favorite of coach Thomas Tuchel and their top target.

Araujo’s comments on leaving Barcelona

Araujo was recently asked about his future in Catalonia, and he had some things to say. “In all markets there is talk of transfers. But I’m focused on the club, I’m happy. And I always give my best when it’s my turn to defend the shirt,” said Araujo.
