Manchester United's youth academy continues to produce promising talents, with 17-year-old Bendito Mantato the latest to catch the eye. However, manager Rúben Amorim is keen to avoid rushing the youngster's development, emphasising a patient approach to his progression.
Mantato's strengths lie in his progressive carrying and dribbling abilities. He possesses a "tenacious dribbling" style, capable of taking on multiple opponents. His quick feet and effective use of body feints make him a formidable threat in attacking situations. Additionally, his positional fluidity allows him to invert and receive the ball centrally.
Despite his obvious talent, Mantato has areas of his game that require refinement. His defensive play, limited information available, decision-making, crossing accuracy, and teamwork and coordination all need further development.
Amorim recognises Mantato's raw talent but believes that rushing him into the first team would be detrimental to his long-term development. The manager is keen to nurture his potential and provide him with ample opportunities for growth.
Mantato's profile suggests he could thrive as a right wing-back (RWB) in Amorim's system. However, the manager is aware that significant development is required before Mantato is ready for a senior role.
Amorim's approach is characterised by patience and a long-term vision. He understands that Mantato's development should not be rushed, and that providing him with the right environment to grow is crucial.
Mantato's development will depend on the opportunities he receives to refine his game. Amorim is expected to provide him with the necessary guidance and support to ensure he reaches his full potential.
Bendito Mantato's journey at Manchester United is just beginning. With Amorim's careful management and a focus on development, he has the potential to become a star at Old Trafford.
