The upcoming transfer window at Manchester United is set to be one of the most important ones in the club’s Premier League history. Where have you heard that before? You might have heard it in the summer of 2019, you might have heard it in the summer of 2021, and you would have definitely heard it in the summer of 2022. Every summer at United feels like the most important one, but this summer has a legitimate case for it.

What separates this summer from all the previous ones other than 2013 is that it is the beginning of a new era. 2013 was the first summer after Sir Alex Ferguson, and this summer is the first summer since 2005 where the Glazers will not be in charge. Whilst the Glazers are still majority owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are taking over sporting matters and are making all sporting decisions at the club. We have already seen the immediate impact of their new role, with the hiring of a new CEO, Omar Berrada. Whilst the hiring needed Glazer approval, Berrada was a candidate that was brought to the table by INEOS, and it was their insistence that he get the role.
And now the club has a huge task this summer to help start another rebuild which will require some ruthless decisions. The club will need to sell some players that have been underperforming, and they will need to cut losses with some players to help clear out the wage book. That has been one of the biggest negatives of United in the market, as when it comes to outgoings the club struggle to get the right value or prioritize the wrong outgoings.
United have had some huge blunders in the market quite recently with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Antony in the last three years. Both players were brought in to do serious things and contribute heavily, but one is loaned to Dortmund and the other is struggling to get his starting position back.

According to the Evening Standard, United have decided to cut their losses and value the players at 50 million pounds each, which would mean they take a loss on the players.
