Manchester United’s midfield issues have been well known for over a decade now and have been talked about across all media platforms. United have gone onto the market and spent hundreds of millions to solve their glaring issues in the middle of the park yet it seems the biggest solution so far might be an 18-year-old kid from the academy.

The Red Devils are set to undergo another midfield revamp this summer with the likes of Casemiro potentially being sold, Scott Mctominay has interest from other clubs, and Amrabat is going back to Fiorentina. This all means United must once again turn towards the market to solve the issue. We’ve seen them linked to names like Amadou Onana from Everton and Joao Neves from Benfica. Legendary captain Roy Keane believes the solution resides in Birmingham at Aston Villa.

Douglas Luiz’s performances have been a huge reason for Aston Villa’s success this season which sees them currently sitting in third place and poised to make Champions League football for the first time in over 40 years. If Douglas Luiz continues this kind of form, then the possibility of Villa playing UCL football and Luiz making PFA TOTY is certainly not out of the question.

“He turns up every week this player,” Keane said on Sky Sports. “Never seems to be injured. Quality player. I like him. I think he was linked with Arsenal last year. There are no surprises there, with some of the Villa players, you think they can certainly go on to play for a Man United, Arsenal or even Man City, you look at Watkins.”

Securing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa will be no easy task especially for fellow Premier League clubs as the Brazilian signed a new contract last season amidst huge interest from Arsenal. According to several reports, Villa will be demanding $100 million plus for the Brazilian midfielder, which may put off interest from the likes of Arsenal, United, and Barcelona who are also linked with the player.
