Following their thrilling penalty shootout victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round, Manchester United are back in Premier League action this Thursday night against Southampton. However, before they face the Saints, the club is exploring potential transfer deals as the January window nears its conclusion.
Reports suggest that United are interested in signing Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, with Chelsea also monitoring the 22-year-old Japanese shot-stopper. The Red Devils were previously linked with Suzuki in the summer of 2023, but the young goalkeeper opted for a loan move to Sint-Truiden instead of competing for the number one spot behind Andre Onana.
With Suzuki's contract at Parma not expiring until June 2029, the Italian club are under no immediate pressure to sell. However, a significant offer from a Premier League giant like Manchester United could be tempting. Amorim is believed to be seeking a long-term successor to Onana and views Suzuki as a potential candidate.
Suzuki has impressed in recent seasons with his impressive shot-stopping ability and commanding presence in goal. His performances have attracted attention from top clubs across Europe, and a move to the Premier League would represent a significant step forward in his career.
This potential move comes as United continue to assess their squad and identify areas for improvement. While the club has shown signs of progress under manager Ruben Amorim, strengthening the squad remains a priority.
The January transfer window provides a final opportunity for United to address any weaknesses before the business end of the season.
