Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has sent fans into a frenzy with a series of cryptic social media posts hinting at a potential return to Old Trafford.
The World Cup winner, who left United on a free transfer last summer following a second, largely unsuccessful, spell at the club, has been keeping fit in Miami. However, his latest Instagram posts have led many to believe that a sensational return to Manchester could be on the cards.
Pogba shared a cartoon of himself and Manchester United teammate Amad Diallo standing side-by-side in United kits, with the caption suggesting a possible reunion. He followed this up with a photo of the Miami skyline, hinting at big things to come.
The timing of these posts is particularly intriguing, given that Pogba's four-month doping ban is set to expire in March. This means that the French midfielder would be free to sign for a new club in time for the business end of the season.
While Pogba's posts are certainly cryptic, they have ignited speculation among fans that he could be set for a sensational return to Manchester United. The club have struggled to find a consistent midfield presence since Pogba's departure, and his return would undoubtedly be a popular move among supporters.
However, there are a number of obstacles that would need to be overcome for a deal to be done. Manchester United would need to be willing to offer Pogba a significant contract, and the player would also need to be prepared to take a pay cut.
Bringing Pogba back to Manchester United would be a risky gamble for the club. The Frenchman has a history of inconsistency and injury problems, and his first spell at Old Trafford was far from a resounding success.
However, there is no doubt that Pogba is a talented player and he could still have a lot to offer the club. If he can rediscover his best form, he would be a valuable addition to Rúben Amorim's squad.
