Paul Scholes has called for Rashford's immediate departure

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has launched a scathing attack on Marcus Rashford, accusing the forward of a lack of commitment and professionalism. The former midfielder believes that Rashford's attitude is a bad example for the club's younger players and that he should be sold.

Speaking on his podcast, Scholes said, "I think Rashford has let a lot of people down. He's been given every opportunity at Manchester United, but he just hasn't taken it." The former England international continued, "His attitude, his work rate, it's just not good enough. He's a talented player, but he's not showing it."

A Lack of Commitment

Scholes drew parallels between Rashford's situation and his own experience at Manchester United. "I remember telling Sir Alex Ferguson that I didn't want to play in a cup game against Arsenal," Scholes recalled. "Ferguson told me that the worst thing I could do was let my teammates down."

The former midfielder believes that Rashford is making a similar mistake by not giving his all for the club. "Rashford is doing exactly the same thing," Scholes said. "He's not giving 100%. He's letting his teammates down."

A Bad Example

Scholes also expressed concern about the impact that Rashford's attitude is having on the club's younger players. "Rashford is a role model for the young players coming through the academy," Scholes said. "He should be setting an example, but he's doing the opposite. If he's not willing to put in the hard work, then he doesn't deserve to be at a club like Manchester United."

Time for a Change

With Rashford's contract set to expire in 2024, Scholes believes that now is the time for the club to move on. "I think it's time for Rashford to leave the club," Scholes said. "He's clearly not happy here, and he's not giving his all. The club needs to move on and find a striker who is hungry and committed."
