Manchester United have fallen behind in multiple categories in the past decade such as the league table, number of trophies, English European records. But no downfall is bigger than the quality of the buildings at the club. The Theatre of Dreams otherwise known as Old Trafford has become more of a haunted mansion with a leaky roof and a crowd that is not happy. Whilst other clubs are renovating or moving to bigger and better stadiums, United have refused to upgrade what was once the best stadium in the country. Instead, their local rivals and Spurs can boast claim to that.

It’s not just Old Trafford that is suffocating as the training facilities at Carrington are suffering and a move has been long overdue. There have been talks over the last few years of an upgrade, but the upgrade never came. It was all talk and no delivery. The single change that was made was a seven million upgrade to the facility for the academy and women’s team to have more equipment and just better surroundings.

That upgrade came after ex player and legend Cristiano Ronaldo said the training facilities are the same quality they were when he left in 2009 and when he came back in 2021. Harsh words like that forced change.

And speaking of change the arrival of a part owner has sparked rumors that Manchester United are finally looking to move out of Carrington where the training facilities have been located since 1999. According to Mail Sport United are looking to move to South Manchester and are in talks with a golf club about the possibilities of settling there. United have acknowledged how far they have fallen when it comes to the quality of training ground and talks took place with High Legh Park Golf Club.

What role does Sir Jim Ratcliffe play in the new facilities

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 percent stake has to do with sporting matters but part of the agreement between him and the Glazers is that he vowed to spend 250 million pounds on Old Trafford. A new training ground may not fall under the sporting matter that Ratcliffe will play a huge role in, but it is likely that he will be informed by the Glazers on a new facility.
