Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen could be on the move this January transfer window, with both Manchester United and Juventus reportedly interested in the Danish international.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona is looking to offload players to free up space on their wage bill and allow them to make new signings. Christensen, who has struggled for regular playing time this season, has emerged as a potential departure.
Both Manchester United and Juventus are said to be monitoring Christensen’s situation. The Red Devils are in need of defensive reinforcements, while Juventus have been linked with a move for the Danish defender in the past.
However, a move to either club would depend on Christensen’s willingness to leave Barcelona. The Danish international has a contract with the Catalan giants until 2026 and has previously expressed his desire to stay at the club.
One option that has been mooted is a potential swap deal involving Christensen and a Manchester United player. The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, and a swap deal could facilitate a move for both players.
If Christensen were to leave Barcelona, it would free up space on the club’s wage bill and allow them to register new signings. The Catalan club are keen to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, and the sale of Christensen could provide them with the funds they need to do so.
