Despite the Argentine's high level, the club needs to sell to comply with financial fair play.

Manchester United are reportedly looking to bolster their squad with two high-profile free agents, Angel Gomes and Jonathan David.

Despite securing Alejandro Garnacho as a promising young talent, the Red Devils are keen on adding more depth to their attacking options. According to the Manchester Evening News, the club is targeting a move for Lille duo, Angel Gomes and Jonathan David, both of whom will be out of contract in the summer of 2025.

Gomes, a former Manchester United academy graduate, left the club in 2020 in search of regular first-team football. The attacking midfielder has since developed into a talented playmaker at Lille, known for his dribbling skills and creativity. His potential return to Old Trafford would be a sentimental one, as he would be rejoining the club where he began his career.

David, on the other hand, is a proven goalscorer. The Canadian international has been a prolific striker for Lille, and his ability to find the back of the net would be a valuable asset to any team.

The combined market value of Gomes and David is estimated to be around €70 million, but Manchester United could secure their services on free transfers if they can agree personal terms with the players. This represents a significant saving for the club, which has been operating under financial constraints in recent years.

A Competitive Forward Line

The arrival of Gomes and David would create a highly competitive forward line at Manchester United. Garnacho, who has impressed since breaking into the first team, would face stiff competition for a starting place. Similarly, the club's other young forwards, such as Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri, would have to fight for their place in the team.

A Strategic Move

The pursuit of Gomes and David is a clear indication of Manchester United's intent to build a young and dynamic squad. Both players are in their early twenties and have the potential to develop into world-class talents.
