Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed suggestions that he will rotate his squad for Sunday's Premier League clash against Manchester United, insisting that the Red Devils are a much better side than their current league position suggests.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot was asked if he would be tempted to rest some of his players given United's struggles this season. The Dutchman was unequivocal in his response:
"That's a strange question," Slot said. "No, of course not. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they have much better players than the table shows. It might take Ruben [Amorim] a little while, but they'll definitely go up. They're much better than the table indicates."
Slot's comments reflect the deep respect he has for Manchester United, despite the club's recent troubles. The Red Devils are currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, but Slot believes that they have the quality to turn their season around.
The clash between Liverpool and Manchester United is one of the most passionate and enduring in world football. Known as the 'North West Derby', this fixture has transcended sport to become a symbol of the rivalry between two industrial cities with rich footballing histories.
Sunday's match presents an opportunity for Manchester United to show that they still have aspirations of qualifying for European competition. For Liverpool, it's a chance to consolidate their position at the top end of the table and move closer to the Champions League places.
