Manchester United have a lot of work to do during the final week of the January transfer window and former Red Devils star Rio Ferdinand has given his thoughts on a group of players who could be on their way out.

Rio Ferdinand has demanded that Manchester United sell Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Tyrell Malacia immediately.

A present to bury

The Red Devils are currently enduring a dismal campaign, sitting in 13th place and just ten points above the relegation zone. But Ruben Amorim's side could look very different by the end of the month as several stars are expected to leave. Among them is Rashford, who has not started under the Portuguese manager, while Antony is expected to leave as Real Betis are close to securing a loan deal for the Brazilian.

Ferdinand makes no effort to conceal his irritation

Ferdinand believes the duo, along with defender Tyrell Malacia, should be offloaded sooner rather than later for the good of the team. When asked about the trio, he said: "I think Antony is going, someone told me, to Real Betis or somewhere like that. Just get rid, man!"

"I'm sorry, no, I'm just being honest. The more these types of people are around, where there's just a nasty noise, everyone wants to leave, everyone's happy to leave, just get them out. Let's start again.

"You know how it is, if you've got people who are unsettled and things aren't going their way and they're not happy, that spreads. It's like a cancerous, bad energy."

Antony's departure is no surprise, given how disappointing he has been since arriving from Ajax for a hefty fee, while Malacia has had constant injury problems. Rashford, meanwhile, has only appeared once in the squad since being dropped against Manchester City.
