Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has made a bold claim that the club can challenge for the Premier League title under new manager Ruben Amorim.

In a recent interview, the Portuguese defender expressed his belief that with the right support and time, United can return to the pinnacle of English football. Dalot said, "If you want me to be completely honest, with this manager, I think we can win a Premier League. I think realistically we can win. But then it becomes the most difficult thing to hear as a fan: that it will take time."

Dalot's comments have raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike, given the club's recent struggles. The Red Devils have been a shadow of their former selves in recent seasons, and their performances this season have been far from convincing.

Despite the team's current struggles, Dalot remains optimistic about the future. He highlighted the positive impact that Amorim has had on the squad and believes that with the right investment and time, the club can return to its former glory.

"I understand. I'm a player but, at the same time, I know what you feel. I know that this club is thirsty to win and everybody wants to win. We're not talking about cups – I know that is important, to win trophies – but what brought this club to what it is is big trophies," Dalot said.

A long road ahead

While Dalot's optimism is commendable, it is important to note that Manchester United have a long way to go before they can challenge for the Premier League title. The club has a number of issues to address, including a lack of squad depth, a ageing squad, and a lack of consistency.

However, the appointment of Amorim represents a step in the right direction. The Portuguese manager has a proven track record of developing young talent and playing an attractive brand of football. If he can successfully implement his philosophy at Old Trafford, then Manchester United may be able to close the gap on their rivals.
