Regardless of what happens in the coming months, this Manchester United season has been a failure. The target last summer was to improve on the previous performance, in which they had been Carabao Cup champions, FA Cup finalists and third in the Premier League standings, but the results were far from that.

Manager Erik Ten Hag has tried to explain the team's poor performances by injuries to key players. While that has been a decisive factor, it is not enough to justify the failures of recent months. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his assistants know this and are therefore planning many changes for next season.
Some players who have shown a disappointing level will surely leave this summer, especially those who have too high salaries. And one of the sectors of the field where there will be more renewal seems to be the midfield. There are more and more rumors about the possible departure of Casemiro, while Scott McTominay is also likely to leave.
Bayer Leverkusen's Exequiel Palacios has been mentioned as his replacement, but he is not the only World Cup winner with Argentina at Qatar 2022 who could join the Red Devils. According to Infobae, Guido Rodriguez is another of those targeted. The 29-year-old holding midfielder has been a key player for Real Betis in recent seasons and his performances have brought him close to top-level clubs such as Barcelona, AS Roma, Arsenal and Atlético Madrid.

With 19 games and one goal in the current season, Guido Rodriguez proved to be an interesting player and that is why Real Betis want to keep him for a long time. But he does not seem to agree, as so far he has not reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract, which expires on June 30. If things go on like this, he will become a free agent and will be able to leave the Spanish side without paying even a cent. That will be a great opportunity for Manchester United, who would otherwise have to pay the £20.5 million that, according to Transfermarkt, he is worth.
