The Gunners see the English international as a key piece to bolster their attack, however, his arrival at the Emirates Stadium will largely depend on the departure of Raheem Sterling. The English winger's inconsistent performances and high wages have prompted Arsenal to seek to offload him to free up funds and wage bill space.
Sterling's departure is a non-negotiable condition for Arsenal to be able to afford Rashford. The funds obtained from the sale of the English winger would be reinvested in the signing of the Manchester United forward.
Another major obstacle in the negotiations is the valuation of Rashford. Arsenal are unwilling to pay the high amount that Manchester United are asking for the player. The Gunners believe that, given Rashford's inconsistency in recent seasons, his market value does not exceed £25 million.
Furthermore, Arsenal are clear that Rashford would arrive at the club as a rotational player. Mikel Arteta's side have a consolidated forward line and the Englishman would have to compete for a place in the starting eleven.
For the transfer to go through, Rashford will have to accept a change of role and be willing to fight for a place in the team. At Manchester United, the English forward has enjoyed the status of an undisputed starter, but at Arsenal, he would have to earn his place.
Marcus Rashford's signing for Arsenal is a real possibility, but it is subject to multiple conditions. The departure of Raheem Sterling, Rashford's acceptance of a secondary role, and agreement on a reasonable valuation are key factors for the transfer to be completed.
