A reunion with Ten Hag is on the cards for this Ajax player

The lack of goals this season from the attack has Manchester United stressing out and in desperate need of another attacker that could bring goals to the squad. An attack that is ranked in the bottom half for goals scored is the opposite of the standard for Manchester United. The club that used to be the golden club when it comes to strikers, has now become a striker’s worst nightmare.

Whilst a striker signing is more likely in the summer when there will be a higher source of funds, a striker signing in January cannot be ruled out as the club are hoping to save their season with this window. With United seventh on the table, and the clubs above them pulling away and showing more consistency, Manchester United might have no choice in the matter when it comes to strikers.

Anthony’s Martial recent hip injury may require surgery as the player is currently contemplating whether to get an operation. With Martial likely to be on the shelf for the foreseeable future, it leaves Rasmus Hojlund as the only real striker option for Ten Hag. Hojlund’s backup would become Rashford or maybe something Ten Hag tinkered with in preseason and try an Amad as a false nine. Ten Hag had good success with Sancho in the nine at preseason and Amad can offer a similar profile.

Manchester United has been linked with a few strikers this January, such as Choupo Moting and Joshua Zirkzee. Both are seen as unrealistic signings this summer, especially Zirkzee as Bologna are set to keep him until the summer. And now it appears Manchester United have set their eyes on another former Ten Hag man to help them at striker.

Ten Hag has created a pattern at United where he wants to sign players he has a history with and this new transfer rumor is no different as United are linked with Ajax striker Brian Brobbey. According to Florian Plattenberg, Ten Hag is eying a reunion with the Dutch striker and that they have been in communication since the summer of 2022.
