Manchester United legend Gary Neville has expressed his reservations about a potential swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho and Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku. The former right-back believes that such a move would not be in the best interests of the Red Devils.
Neville, who has been a vocal critic of Manchester United in recent years, shared his thoughts on the proposed swap deal during his appearance on Sky Sports. "I don't get it," Neville said. "I don't think Garnacho is the finished article yet, but he has incredible potential. To swap him for Nkunku, who is already proven at the highest level, doesn't seem like the right move for United."
The potential swap deal between Manchester United and Chelsea has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks. While Nkunku is undoubtedly a talented player, Neville believes that it would be a risk to part ways with Garnacho, who is seen as one of the brightest young talents in English football.
"Garnacho has the potential to be a real star for Manchester United," Neville continued. "He's got pace, skill, and an eye for goal. To let him go at this stage of his career would be a mistake."
If Manchester United were to agree to a swap deal involving Garnacho, it would have a significant impact on the club. The Argentine winger has become a fan favorite at Old Trafford and his departure would be a blow to the club's supporters.
Furthermore, the club would be losing a young player with immense potential. While Nkunku is a proven goalscorer, Garnacho has the potential to develop into one of the best players in the world.
The future of Garnacho at Manchester United is uncertain. The young winger has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months, with several top European clubs expressing an interest in his services.
However, with the club's hierarchy keen to build a team for the future, it is unlikely that they will sanction a sale unless they receive a significant offer.
