The stadium PA was going through his own rehearsed routine as the Manchester United squad went through their final warm-up at Molineux. One wonders whether Marcus Rashford's musical knowledge allowed him to pick up the cover version of Terrorvision's Tequila or the song of the same name by The Champs.

Rasmus Hojlund breaks Cristiano Ronaldo's record with Manchester United

A week ago Rashford was downing Tequila in the bars of Belfast and was a matter of hours from waking up bleary-eyed in the city and phoning in sick for United training. He would subsequently miss the trip to Newport County and has been in the spotlight ever since. After showdown talks on Monday, United said Rashford had "taken responsibility" for his actions and been disciplined, but was available for selection. It was still a surprise to see him in the starting XI at Wolves.

But if he felt he owed people a performance he began to deliver inside five minutes. When Rasmus Hojlund teed him up for the shot from the edge of the area the chance was still a difficult one, but Rashford picked his spot beautifully, leaving Jose Sa with no chance. He ran over to the away end to celebrate, although showed little emotion as he stood in front of those jubilant supporters.

By then he had sprinted back to close down Nelson Semedo and had a detailed tactical discussion with Rasmus Hojlund. He then helped create Hojlund's goal with a perfectly weighted pass to Luke Shaw on the overlap. Casemiro has been back in the side for two games and already he's collected two more bookings, taking his tally to five in his last six appearances, which also includes that Champions League red card against Galatasaray. He was late to a tackle against Newport County on Sunday and was booked very early at Molineux when he got a tackle against Semedo all wrong and upended the full-back.

Despite victory, Bruno Fernandes believes Man United still have a lot to work on

Shaw and Rashford link-up

Who knows what brought the best out of Rashford on Thursday night, but it will have helped him having Luke Shaw behind him once again. There's little doubt that Rashford produces his best football on the left when he is in tandem with the excellent Shaw. Twice in the early stages they linked up well, with Rashford holding the ball while he waited for his full-back to go past him on the overlap. The second goal came from the same combination. Shaw is one of several key men returning to the team at the moment and he might be able to get the best out of Rashford, who is beginning to find some form of his own with five goal contributions in his last five appearances.
